Insulation
Insulation helps to keep your home warm in the winter months and cooler in summer. This in turn prevents your heating and cooling system from working harder, keeping your energy bills lower as well improving the overall energy efficiency of your home. At Capital Energy, we offer a wide range of insulation solutions suitable for almost every type of dwelling.
Internal / External Wall insulation
An estimated 33% of heat lost in an insulated home does so through the walls. If your house was built pre 1920’s, the external walls are most likely to be solid walls, rather than cavity walls. This means there are no gaps in the walls and cannot be filled with insulation but can be insulated internally or externally.
The process for external wall treatment involves fitting polystyrene insulation boards around the walls of your property, which is then rendered with a range of finishes, giving your house a fresh look. Internal walls are insulated by either installing rigid insulation boards to the wall or using mineral wool fibre.
Cavity Wall insulation
Houses built 1920’s onwards (more so 1950’s onwards) are highly likely to have cavity walls. This cavity is created by the external and internal wall having a gap in between. Compared to solid walls, insulating cavity walls are a lot easier. Installation requires drilling small holes in the other walls, then pumping insulation into the cavity before the holes are sealed up.
Loft insulation
One of the simpler, yet most effective types of insulation. Although a significant percentage of houses do have insulation in the loft, most do not meet the recommended depth of 270mm. A typical house with no insulating may benefit from £100’s of annual savings, as well as providing a cosy environment for their family.
Other types of insulations:
- Room In Roof insulation
- Flat roof insulation
- Underfloor insulation
